Account information: name, email address, country, profile photo.
Driver information (if applicable): car number, racing class, registered track, biographical details.
Content: videos, photos, setup notes, reviews, and merchandise listings you upload.
Payment information: processed by our payment provider (Stripe); we do not store full card details.
Communications: messages you send to other users via the platform.

2. Information We Collect Automatically

When you use the Service, we automatically log your IP address, browser type, device information, pages visited, and the timestamps of your visits. We use this information to operate the Service, detect abuse, and improve the platform.

3. Cookies and Local Storage

We use cookies and browser local storage to keep you signed in, remember your preferences (such as temperature unit), and measure platform usage. You can clear cookies and local storage in your browser settings, but doing so will sign you out.

4. How We Use Your Information

We use your information to:

Operate, maintain, and improve the Service.
Personalise your experience (e.g. show your favourite tracks, your home timezone).
Process payments and subscriptions.
Send service notifications (race reminders, attendance confirmations, push notifications via OneSignal if you opt in).
Detect and prevent fraud, abuse, and security incidents.

5. Sharing of Your Information

We do not sell your personal information. We share information only:

With your consent.
With service providers (Stripe for payments, Cloudflare for hosting, OneSignal for push notifications) under confidentiality obligations.
To comply with legal process or enforce our Terms.
In aggregated or de-identified form (e.g. “N drivers raced in NZ last month”).

6. Public Profile Information

Driver profiles (name, car number, racing class, registered track, public videos, public setup notes) are public by default. You can mark your profile as private via your profile settings. Public video listings and reviews remain visible to other users regardless of profile visibility.

7. Cookies Used for Marketing

Google Analytics (with anonymised IP) is used for usage measurement. Google AdSense is used for advertising on free-tier pages. Meta Pixel may be loaded for ad measurement if configured by the platform administrator. You can opt out of personalised advertising via your browser's privacy settings or at www.aboutads.info.

8. Data Retention

We retain your account information for as long as your account is active. You can request deletion of your account at any time via Settings; we will delete your personal data within 30 days of the request, subject to legal retention obligations.

9. Your Rights

Depending on your country of residence, you may have the right to:

Access the personal data we hold about you.
Correct inaccurate data.
Request deletion of your data.
Object to or restrict certain processing.
Data portability (export your content).

10. Security

We use industry-standard security measures to protect your data, including HTTPS in transit, bcrypt-hashed passwords, and Stripe for payment data. No system is perfectly secure; if you discover a vulnerability, please contact us via the in-platform feedback bubble (test users) or by email.

11. International Data Transfers

Driven By Dirt is operated from New Zealand. By using the Service, you understand that your data may be transferred to, stored, and processed in New Zealand and other countries where our service providers operate. We take steps to ensure your data is protected to the standards required by applicable privacy law.

12. Children

The Service is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children under 13. If you believe we have collected data from a child under 13, please contact us so we can delete it.

13. Changes to this Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The “Last updated” date at the top reflects when changes were made. Material changes will be communicated via the platform before they take effect.
